Elsewhere, people checked the pencil rather than the plate, read a silent pantry as empty, or named the wrong station on the board. Different mistakes gave the same success.In Aider, for over a year, different failure mechanisms could all terminate with a success code. In Hermes a helper-level test validated argument construction while the real launch path then dropped the option that mattered; in the same project, an unavailable history source yielded an empty result instead of an unknown. In gstack a false green that had been fixed recurred under a structurally similar identity mismatch.

Write clearly what remains unknown rather than leaving a box empty. Also check that the board watches the station cooking that night.Measure at the behavior actually required: delivery to the user, the real launch path, an exit code reflecting the actual failure. Unknown must cross the interface as unknown rather than be flattened into empty. The gstack second fix widened the cache key to the executable and the real authentication context, binding the health check to what actually runs.

A tidy board may measure the wrong thing. A success is worth no more than the act it truly saw.Internally finished is not finished for the user, and a green test can test the wrong thing. A green exit code is part of the product contract; unknown is information that must survive the interface, and health checks must be bound to what actually runs.
